Centrepiece of the exhibition is 38 ft x 10 ft oil painting made especially for the gallery at Cafe Gallery Projects. Working collaboratively we have created a panoramic diorama of the journey we took in 2004 alongside what was travelled by the Donner party in 1846. The painting starts in The Great Plains of Nebraska and concludes at the Sierra Nevada in California. The painting style hearkens to a tradition of the Victorian travelling painting, which was used by the early settlers to entertain and educate, showing both fantastical and representational scenes painted throughout and script. At Its heart is how we have percieved this journey and the terrain that we have encountered. <Return |
